Script – Carpet Bomber v1.0

The basic idea is you can create a bunch of sources through out you scene and Carpet Bomber will populate those sources with Fume Containers, and in those Fume containers you can add lights, spacewarps, geometry, ects. You can then update your grids either with the basic settings or the Preset Loader.

If you have a keyframed “explosion” grid and want to duplicate it, Carpet Bomber will do that too. Pick your reference Grid, add the sources you want the grids built around, select any of the timing offset options if your want to “bump” your keyframes and click go. Don’t like the grid timing? Open up the layer manager, select the Fume Grid layer delete the grids and start over :)

You get advanced timing features such as Global Start time,
Sequential Start Time, Start by Distance (1 speed unit = 1 unit of measure), Random Start time and grid duration. Timing will also move your source and grid keyframes if you so choose. As in the example above Sequential Start was used.

You get the option of offsetting the position of you grid with
respect to the source, to high, bump them down.

Set your output paths, setting even 10 grids output paths is
monotonous CB will do it for you, well its not that high tech,
it will make sure your fxd’s are the same name as you container
and stick them all in the same folder but it is the folder of your choice:)

It is just that easy :D

Want to load a preset? It will do that to…

Last but not least you can get some cheap variation with the Turbulence Randomizer. It will add a random value in 1 or all fields up to the value that you specify. Don’t like it? You can reset them all back to zero.

If you want Carpet Bomber will move everything onto its own layer. Since I haven’t written Selection Sets into this yet I helps manage it a little easier.

You can add objects to any list either by the Add All buttons or Select By name dialog. It is important that you select from the Top down when adding sources so when your grids are created the will numerically match up. Of course if you have mixed source sets it is going to get boggled anyway. Hmmm…

When you have everything the way you like it, you can sim off all of your grids at once using the Sim All. Want to do a quick test sim? Use Sim Selected.

Anyway, enough with the cheesy pitch, have fun:) If you like it say so, if you hate it don’t say anything, Joking, if you do hate it let me know what you hate and maybe I can fix it.

Oh and save your file before running the script there is no way you have enough undos set to get back to your original state ;)

It should work in Max8x+ with FumeFX1.0
Tested in Max 2008 & 2009 with FumeFX1.1
CarpetBomber version 1.0
